MeeGo Operating System for Netbooks
MeeGo has released v1.0 of its self-titled operating system for netbooks. This operating system works as a stable core foundation that developers can use to begin creating MeeGo applications. The interface presents a variety of information directly on the home screen, such as calendars, tasks, recent files, and real-time social networking updates.
The MeeGo Notebook platform integrates Google Chrome, while users can also choose other options if necessary. Applications for e-mail, calendar and media playback are also built into the software, which is said to be optimized for power and performance.
The company is planning to release additional versions in six-month intervals, with the next update to support touch-based devices such as smartphones, tablets, and in-vehicle systems. Developers can now download the MeeGo API, SDK, and other OS tools.
